What Does Kairos Food Rescue do?
Did you know that over
100,000 TONNES
of food is wasted every year
in New Zealand?
Kairos Food Rescue collects excess food, destined for the bin, from local cafes, restaurants and bulk food providers and distributes it to the people in our city who need it through our Free Store and through re-distribution to food banks across the region.

Kairos Food Rescue and Free Store exists only through the support of businesses and people like you.
Your weekly or monthly donation will allow Kairos to:
Pay the rent on our warehouse facilities so that we can keep processing bulk food donations for redistribution to local food banks.
Pay a living wage to our hard-working staff who oversee food collection and distribution and coordination of volunteers.
Pay operating expenses like power, petrol and vehicle maintenance.

Free Store Team
Opportunities on Free Store evenings for people to help distribute food, meet and greet guests and ensure security
(Potential availability 3:30pm-6:30pm Monday, Wednesday or Friday)
Food Collection Team
Assist our drivers as they rescue food from around the city
(Potential availability 7:30am-1pm or 9:15am-1:30pm weekdays)
